Dr. Soares was raised in Los Banos & attended O.L.F. Grade School & Los Banos High School. In 1986, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis. In 1990, Dr. Soares received his Doctorate in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon State. His training emphasized Comprehensive Family Eyecare.

In 1990, Dr. Soares received his Doctorate in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon State. His training emphasized Comprehensive Family Eyecare. He then completed a residency at the Seattle & American Lake VA hospitals. There he specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, & macular degeneration. In 1991, upon completion of his post-graduate training, Dr. Soares returned to his hometown & founded Advanced Eyecare Associates.
Dr. Soares is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the California Optometric Association (COA), the Central California Optometric Society (CCOS), & the California Optometric Laser Association (COLA). He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O.) for over 10 years.
Dr. Soares feels civic involvement is very important & over the years he has served on many local & state committees & boards such as the Our Lady of Fatima Advisory Board, the Los Banos Sportsman Board of Directors, & a Charter Board of Director for the New Bethany Foundation.
Dr. Soares has two wonderful children & together they enjoy many outdoor activities such as skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, music, sports, & BBQing!
